Wednesday, December 21, 2016

Today may be the first day of winter, but I'm still anxious for the first sighting of a pair of Barred Owls that nest in a wooded area of a local big city park. This photo was the first sighting on 2-27-16.

Rare Sighting In Texas.

This male Mandarin Duck has decided to make White Rock Lake, Dallas, Tx his temporary home. This species of duck is closely related to the very common Wood Duck, but is not native to North America. Mandarin Ducks are mostly found in Asia. This is a very rare sighting in Texas.

Big City Bird Sanctuary

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical center in Dallas Texas, contains a large Bird Sanctuary that host 1000's of Birds each spring as they begin their spring nesting. The Rookery in the middle of this vast Medical complex is quite a Juxtaposition. This odd couple is what makes it all the more interesting. The birds found in this Rookery are quite unique.
